Air and Space in Black and White

A little something different from my normal portrait posts. Here's a little moody black and white photojournalism.

Little Guy

What a sweet 3-month-old. He was such a trooper during his photo session. The whole two hours he didn't even cry, a little fussing, yes, but no serious protests. One nap, 3 or 4 diapers, several wardrobe changes and a feeding later we finished up. I love newborns because they're so easy to work with. They just need a little patience and they'll be greatest little models.

Snow Day

We had our first snow of the year yesterday, and had great fun. It's so wonderful to be able to see the snow through kids' eyes again, and have a blast just playing outside. There were snow angels, sled rides, drenched gloves and yummy mugs of hot cocoa. Everything I remember that's good about the winter months :) Well, except the snowman, we weren't quite that ambitious!

And for a little more inspiration, here's a link to my fav snow day song, off one of my kids' CDs :)

Au Revoir!

I had a chance to have a family session with my favorite twins and my good friend and her hubby last weekend. They are such a photogenic family. I have known the little ones since they were 2 years old and they were some of my very first portrait clients as well as great friends to my kids. They are headed overseas for a few years, and we will miss them alot!

As seen in Crochet! Magazine

We have our first commercial photo appearing in the national magazine, Crochet!, this month. Featured as part of an ad for youcanmakethis.com, our little model is showing off one of Lullaby Lamb's crochet hat patterns. While our images have been used for youcanmakethis.com's online ads for quite some time, this was our first time in print. If you get a chance, grab the January issue and take a look, we're on page 19.

The new site is up!

After several weeks of preparation, my new website is now ready! This site has a similar look to the old one, but is Flash-based, which should make it run more smoothly for people who may had had trouble viewing the old HTML site. This new site features five image galleries, a new opening slideshow, some customer testimonials, and a special "what's new" section. The galleries show examples of the types of images that will be the focus of my business in the new year--outdoor portraits and location studio work (for newborns/infants). You can take a peek at www.veralana.com.

First Session of the Year

I had the opportunity to step a little away from my norm with my first session of 2008. This granddaughter/grandfather team coauthored a book and were looking for an image to use for their about the author page. I was so flattered to be asked, and can't wait to see the book!

Happy 2008!

It's a new year, and I'm very excited to launch my first full year in business! I have a new website that will premiere in the next few days, and I have a fabulous limited edition session to announce. Starting in 2008, I will be offering the Enchanted Princess Special, which is every little princess's dream photo session. These premium packages include a custom hardback book featuring your images and beautiful artwork by the very talented Jessica Dittmer, and a gorgeous gallery-wrap canvas rendition of one of your images to hang on your princess's wall. You can even choose to include a custom-made dress from our own costume designer. Only one of these sessions will be available per month, so book early for your favorite month! As you can see, my little models enjoyed the session we did last weekend :) Click here to take a peek at a sample book.
